Bembien is a line of accessories handmade by artisans around the world. Founder Yi-Mei Truxes was inspired while living in New York, after becoming transfixed with a woman in a white linen dress crossing a cobblestoned street carrying a woven basket bag. There was something about her that was so effortless — she looked as though she had stepped out of 1970s coastal France. Yi-Mei wanted to create a line evoking that same nostalgia and perennial style. She eventually found it in a small village of artisan weavers in Bali. And Bembien was born. At the forefront of their work is supporting these precious weaving communities. It's the brand's goal to help bring their craft into a wider market on the other side of the globe.
